New Hope Community: Love One Another

The New Hope Community, an intentional CHM community in the River Bend neighborhood of Des Moines, Iowa, is a witness to all of the importance of a daily rhythm of prayer, community and working for justice.

Members of the community include both vowed and non-vowed individuals who commit one year at a time, to live in community as did the early Christians—breaking bread, sharing with those in need, praying daily and living simply.

The community further models itself on the life of Mary, whose very being made God present and known, and whose canticle of God’s goodness indicates how the world is to be transformed -- the powerful will be brought down from their thrones but  the oppressed and lowly will be raised up.

The people of The New Hope Community know, however, that changing society starts in your own neighborhood – one day at a time.
