"We, the members of the Congregation of the Humility of Mary, call one another to live the gospel with simplicity and joy following the example of Mary.

Like our founders, we strive to be attentive to the call of the Spirit in the signs of our times, especially the needs of the poor and the powerless.

We commit ourselves as individuals, and as a congregation, to work for justice within the human family and to care for the

earth itself."

The search for life’s essential meaning is found in reflection and prayer.
One cannot live a true humility spirit without a deep sense of honesty before God and one another. That relationship with God is expressed beautifully in the Magnificat, the prayer sung by the young pregnant Mary when she is welcomed for a visit to the house of her cousin Elizabeth.

In her song of praise for God’s miracle in her life, Mary reminds us that God accepts us as we are; there’s no need to pretend to be somebody we’re not. Great things can happen to even the “least among us” because God’s ways are different than humankind’s.

Not surprisingly, the Magnificat is the community prayer of the Sisters of Humility.
