How does your spiritual garden grow?

The Congregation of the Humility of Mary has a distinctive spirit and a unique history.

For people seeking to live an authentic spirituality in the 21st century, the Congregation of the Humility of Mary provides a fertile ground in which to nurture one’s spiritual life.

Branching out to include women and men of all faiths, the Congregation of the Humility of Mary offers a variety of opportunities for individuals of all ages and life situations to grow in faith and work for justice within the human family.

Since 1854 the Congregation of the Humility of Mary (CHM) has moved from one continent to another, lived in diverse cultures and worked with people of all age groups.

From the beginning, the community has been characterized by the capacity to change with the times and to adapt to new circumstances and challenges, while holding to a core of faith.

Today CHM Sisters, associates and volunteers remain joyfully committed to their original mission: going wherever the Spirit leads, doing what the needs of the times require.

They continue to respond to these needs, through ministry to the homebound, homeless, physically and mentally ill, to immigrants, low-income persons, single parents and senior citizens. Other works include parish, prayer and rural ministries, teaching, tutoring, environmentalism and media literacy. CHMs and their associates are active in 20 states and three countries.

Joined in religious community, the Congregation of the Humility of Mary can accomplish what one alone cannot do in creating an environment of justice, love and peace.
