Co-sponsored by Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat and the Congregation of the Humilityof Mary
Free event - Good will offering accepted

On Thursday, March 8 at 7:00 pm, join Father J. Michael Joncas, composer of 25 collections ofliturgical music, for an enjoyable and educational evening of song, addressing why we sing, what we sing and when we sing it. The program will relate to the progression of the liturgy, covering music appropriate to the various parts of the mass that others will also find applicable to their worship services. Discover music that helps the “full, conscious and active” participation of the faithful.
Fr. Joncas’ compositions are sung around the world and across a wide variety of Christian traditions. “On Eagle’s Wings” is among his most cherished hymns. A priest, liturgist, and composer, Fr. Joncas is Artist in Residence and Research Fellow in Catholic Studies at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. Author and co-author of 6 books and over 250 articles and reviews, he was honored with the Pax Christi Award from St. John’s Monastery and University, Collegeville, MN, along with Marty Haugen and David Haas.
This event is even more special because of the location at Sacred Heart Cathedral – the mother church of the Davenport Diocese. The cathedral, dedicated in 1892, now has a beautiful 21st century diocesan hall and gathering space. With the new addition the atmosphere is very special and inviting.
In Addition, Fr. Joncas will lead a two-day retreat at Our Lady of the Prairie Retreat center Friday and Saturday, March 9-10. Space is limited. For more information call 563-336-8414 or register HERE
